Concreters in Ringwood, 3134

Residential concreting for Ringwood homes: driveways, garage slabs, paths and alfresco areas, from the established brick veneer streets behind Ringwood Lake to the townhouse rows spreading out from the Eastland activity centre. Two kinds of suburb live under one postcode here, and they order different concreting, so every job starts with a site measure rather than an assumption.

Ground conditions in Ringwood

Ringwood’s clay is the same seasonal mover as the rest of Maroondah, swelling wet and shrinking dry. The older streets add mature street trees and half-century-old surfaces; the development lots add ground disturbed by demolition and compaction that cannot be taken on trust. Both problems end the same way, with base preparation done properly before any concrete arrives.

The jobs Ringwood gives us

Around the activity centre it is development-adjacent work: shared driveways for townhouse rows, crossovers built to Maroondah’s standard drawings under permit, and slabs poured to tight levels between new fences. Out in the established streets it is classic replacement, original driveways and paths at end of life, plus the alfresco slabs that follow renovations of the suburb’s solid brick veneers.

Finishes specified in Ringwood

Charcoal coloured concrete is the townhouse standard, one consistent surface across shared driveways. On the established streets exposed aggregate leads for frontages, with broom finished plain grey on side runs and utility slabs.

Concreting cost in Ringwood

Concrete driveways run $95 to $185 per m2 by finish, shed and garage slabs $110 to $150, paths $90 to $130 and patios and alfresco areas $100 to $180, supplied and laid. Removal adds $35 per m2 including disposal, and exposed aggregate sits at the top of each range. Prices may vary with site conditions and variations; the written quote after a site measure is fixed. The cost guide and calculator give the first numbers.

Maroondah City Council permits

Maroondah City Council requires written consent and a vehicle crossing permit before a crossover, the section between your property boundary and the road, is built, widened, relocated or reconstructed. Applications go through the council’s online eServices portal; consent applications are assessed in around ten business days and the permit itself is typically issued within two, valid for three months. Residential crossings are built to the council’s standard drawing MCC-501, between 3.0 and 4.0 metres wide, and generally one crossing is permitted per property unless the frontage exceeds 20 metres. Clearances apply from pits, poles, street trees and other assets in the nature strip. Council inspects the work twice: a pre-pour inspection, booked with at least 24 hours’ notice, before any concrete is poured, and a final inspection on completion. A permit fee applies and fees change from time to time, so the current amount is confirmed at the quote. We confirm what your job needs in writing before anything is booked.

Specification

How our concreting is built

Full specification

Two quotes can look the same on paper and be very different underground. This is what is included in ours.

01 Preparation

The old surface removed and the area prepped, with base material brought in and compacted where the ground needs it. On the clay of the foothills, preparation is where cheap concreting fails.

02 Reinforcement

Steel mesh in every slab we pour, sized to what will sit on it, with a heavier specification quoted where vehicles and machinery will park.

03 Drainage

A fall directed away from the house on every slab, and a grated drain formed in where the block falls the wrong way.

04 Joints and cure

Control joints cut to direct any movement, seven days before vehicles, and exposed aggregate sealed after cure.
